How far will you travel?

I live in Williamsburg and will travel up to 75 miles. This generally spans from Virgina Beach to Richmond. Please contact me if you're unsure about your location.

What will you wear to officiate?

​

It's up to you! I have a traditional ministerial robe and stole; however, I can also wear regular wedding guest attire to suit your preferences.

Can I write my own vows? Or, can you suggest a marriage service for us?

​

Yes and yes! I have a library of services and rituals to choose from, of which I can augment to suit your requests.

Can my child/ren or family be involved in the ceremony? 

​

Of course! We'll work on a meaningful way, together, to incorporate your loved ones.

What is your typical process when you work with a new client? 

​

After a couple reaches out to me (or responds to a bid on Thumbtack), I talk with them on the phone. Typically, we will have an in-person meeting as well (included in price). I learn what type of ceremony they are interested in and get to know them more as people, which is important to make the ceremony especially meaningful. Then, we will communicate over email about the vows and any concerns or questions about the ceremony. If a couple decides they want premarital counseling, we will meet at their home for three, one-hour sessions prior to the ceremony date. I will lead the ceremony rehearsal, if needed. I will show up early on the wedding day to complete necessary paperwork and address any last-minute concerns.  It is important to me that a couple never has to worry about me not showing up! I focus on the ceremony itself and the words I am saying as I speak, to help the couple and guests feel the seriousness of the event - yet, it is also joyful, and I try to convey that as well. I see officiating weddings as a ministry. I hope to offer my loving presence at a greatly significant event/transition in a couple's life.

What do your clients most enjoy about your services? 

​

I am flexible and enjoy working with couples from different faith backgrounds or no faith background. I have and will continue to officiate ceremonies for same-sex and straight couples alike. I have been told I have a gift for making even the simplest of ceremonies a memorable experience.

Do you officiate outdoor weddings? 

​

Yes! Beaches, churches, hotels, courthouses, private homes, golf courses, wineries, inside and outside - I've done it all! I'm open to any venue a couple finds reasonable and appealing for their ceremony, as long as it's safe for everyone involved.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work? 

​

I hold a bachelor of arts in Religion and a masters of divinity, and I am an ordained minister. I have a license to perform marriages in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Additionally, I have a two-year certficiate from The Well Spiritual Direction school to provide spiritual direction, also known as life coaching.

 

What advice would you give to a couple looking to hire an officiant? 

 

Call and speak with the candidate. Personally, I am an excellent listener and will work with each couple to ensure they receive a personalized, meaningful service.
